Does Jazz Play Doctor Better Than He Plays Baseball?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

It was easy to see that something was nagging Jazz Chisholm in Tuesday’s game. He felt some discomfort in his right oblique and stepped out of the box and started moving his midsection side to side. I’m no doctor and neither is Chisholm, but he’s not worried about his oblique which obviously isn’t 100% at the moment. I just hope this isn’t a big deal.

I cringed watching Aaron Boone and a team trainer come out to check on Chisholm. I know he took a couple of practice swings, and the Yankees felt good enough to leave him in there to bat….but that doesn’t exactly make me feel confident. I trust the Yankees trainers and medical staff’s ability to do their jobs less than I trust that pigs can fly or that pots of rainbows do exist at the end of a rainbow.

So, we all get to sit and hold out breath today as we wait for Chisholm to have his MRI and other tests done. He’s not worried at all, read more HERE“I’m really not as concerned as everybody else,” Chisholm said. “I tore my oblique before, so I know it’s not torn or anything. I know my body. I kind of guess these things right most of the time. I would know if I’m super in pain or my stuff is messed up like that.” Boone on the other hand is not convinced, ”He’s in pretty good spirits. He just told me, ‘I’m fine.’ I don’t know about that, but we’ll see what we have. We’re not going to do anything immediately.”

Is Chisholm’s response supposed to make us feel better? I guess all oblique tears are the same and feel the same. Maybe that is wisdom from the Yankees training and medical staff. It sure sounds like them. I admire his spirit and not wanting to miss significant time but, we really need to not be stupid about this. We’ve had enough medical stupidity in recent years, Aaron Judge is the perfect example. I’m just glad Oswald Peraza replaced him as a pinch runner and took over second base the rest of the game.

So, I’d really rather not have another medical blunder here. I’d also like to see Chisholm be just as concerned with his batting average as he is with his non-injury. So here’s crossing our fingers that he’s not injured and he can get back to action soon and get over that Mendoza line.

Jazz, you are no doctor….but I hope you are guessing right again and this is not an injury that makes you miss some extensive time. He’s no doctor, but unfortunately I am convinced the Yankees don’t have any either.
