Chicago Cubs: Gage Workman lasted 1 at-bat during embarrassing debut for White Sox

On Saturday, the Chicago Cubs traded Rule 5 pick Gage Workman to the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations. The Cubs chose to move on from the rookie infielder after making two costly errors in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers last week.
Following his trade to the White Sox, Workman said his goal was to make a difference with the White Sox and beat his new crosstown rival.
“Super excited, grateful to be with this team,” Workman said of the White Sox. “Excited to play and try to make a difference over here and play my game. Grateful for my time with the Cubs and good people over there. But now I’m with the White Sox and I’m excited to be here and now I want to beat the Cubs.”
Workman’s debut as a starter left a lot to be desired.
Former Chicago Cubs 3B Gage Workman had a rough start
Workman made the start at third base and lasted two outs before getting back to his old habits.
He made a fielding error at the top of the first inning that allowed the Milwaukee Brewers to take a 2-0 lead. Workman lasted one at-bat (strikeout) before they moved they moved Miguel Vargas from first base to third.

Will the Chicago White Sox be more patient?
Workman didn’t show much progress in fielding on Wednesday night from his short time with the Cubs.
The White Sox wound up losing 6-4 to the Brewers in front of 10,253 fans at Rate Field. Chicago has lost the first two games of their series against Milwaukee.
Workman flew out to left field when he was used as a pinch hitter on Wednesday night. As a Rule 5 pick, the White Sox do not have much flexibility with the 25-year-old left-handed batter.
However, with a 7-23 record, the White Sox are in more of a position to be flexible with Workman than the Cubs are, as the Cubs are trying to chase the NL Central crown.
But if Workman continues to make errors in each outing, he might not last with the White Sox when they play the Cubs on May 16.
