SharkNinja recalls over 2 million Foodi Pressure Cookers in U.S. and Canada because of severe burn injuries

SharkNinja Operating LLC, of Needham, MA., is recalling approximately 1.8 million Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers in the United States and 184,240 in Canada because the pressure-cooking lid can be opened during use, allowing hot contents to escape and posing a serious burn hazard.

Additionally, if the lid defect results in a loss of pressure, there is a potential risk that food may be undercooked, which could lead to food safety concerns if harmful bacteria are not adequately eliminated. While no reports have confirmed undercooking, this possibility should be noted as a precaution given the importance of proper pressure cooking for food safety.

SharkNinja has received 106 reports of burn injuries in the U.S., including more than 50 second- or third-degree burns to the face or body, prompting 26 lawsuits. In Canada, five incidents of lids opening during use have been reported, with no injuries noted. 

The recalled cookers were sold at major retailers, including Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, and Target, as well as online at Ninjakitchen.com, Walmart.com, Costco.com, Samsclub.com, Amazon.com, and Target.com, from January 2019 through March 2025 for about $200. Approximately 15,616 replacement lids were sold in the U.S. and 187 in Canada as service parts during the same period.

• Description: 6.5-quart capacity, black, with “Ninja” printed on the front and product label; includes pressure cooking and air frying functions
• Additional Items: Replacement pressure-cooking lids purchased separately as service parts
• Model Number Location: Printed on a label on the side of the cooker

The company is offering a free replacement lid to affected consumers, who should immediately stop using the pressure-cooking function but may continue using other functions like air frying.

Consumers should contact SharkNinja toll-free at 888-370-1733 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Saturday, by email at [email protected], or online at https://www.rqa-inc.com/client/SharkNinja/ or www.ninjakitchen.com under “Recalls” for a replacement lid. In Canada, consumers must confirm disposal of the original lid to receive a replacement.

Health Canada notes that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits redistributing, selling, or giving away recalled products in Canada. Consumers experiencing issues with the recall process can file a complaint with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) or report incidents to Health Canada via the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
