Will God Protect Us in the End-Times? You Might Want to Read This.

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Yes, according to the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, God promises protection and deliverance for His people during the end times—but that protection doesn’t always mean escape from suffering. Rather, it means His presence, strength, and ultimate salvation through tribulation.

Here are key KJV scriptures that affirm God’s protection during the end times. Take a moment to absorb their meaning:

God’s Promise of Refuge and Strength

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear…”
Psalm 46:1–2 (KJV)

Even in times of upheaval, believers are reminded that God is near and reliable.

Protection Amidst Trial

This scripture is very telling to me. I would like to spend some time looking at the pieces to understand what God is telling us.

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”

– Revelation 3:10 (KJV)

Let’s break it down and look at various layers of meaning—biblical, theological, and prophetic:

Phrase-by-Phrase Breakdown

“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience…”

  • This refers to those who have faithfully endured trials and remained loyal to Christ—patiently obeying His teachings despite difficulty or persecution.
  • “The word of my patience” suggests endurance through testing, similar to the way Jesus endured suffering.

“I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation…”

  • The phrase “keep thee from” is translated from the Greek tereo ek, which can mean:

    • To protect out of (preservation through the trial)
    • Or to protect away from (being removed before the trial begins)
  • The phrase “hour of temptation” is translated from:
    • Hora (hour): A set time, a specific and brief period (not just 60 minutes, but a defined season of trial).
    • Peirasmos (temptation): Can mean testing, trial, tribulation, or enticement to sin.

So, this is not a minor personal trial—it is a worldwide, divinely appointed time of testing and pressure, likely involving deception, suffering, and judgment.

Scholars debate whether this implies a tribulation rapture (believers taken before or during the Tribulation), or divine protection during the Tribulation. We know that God intends to pour out the bowl of wrath midway through the Tribulation period. Would it be at this time that He will, “keep us from the hour of temptation” with the Rapture?? Even if you do not believe in a Rapture, the concept remains clear, God will protect us from the Tribulation.

“Which shall come upon all the world…”

  • This indicates a global event—not localized or isolated. It echoes the Tribulation period prophesied in Daniel and Revelation.

“To try them that dwell upon the earth.”

  • “Them that dwell upon the earth” often refers in Revelation to unbelievers or the unrepentant. Is this making sense now?
  • “To try” means to test or prove—implying God will use this time to expose what is truly in people’s hearts.

What Does It Mean for Believers?

1. Faithfulness is Key
This promise is conditional: it’s for those who keep God’s Word faithfully, patiently enduring in faith.

2. God’s Protection May Come in Different Forms

  • Spiritual preservation: Your soul is secure, even if your body suffers.
  • Physical escape: Some interpret this as the rapture before the Tribulation (especially pre or mid tribulationists).
  • Supernatural shielding: Like the Israelites in Egypt during the plagues, you may be protected even while still present.

I would like for you to pray about this portion specifically. Let God give you additional clarification regarding His matter of protection. I have done this personally. Each time that I pray about this, I am reminded of when I was lost in the snowy mountains of Utah for a considerable amount of time. When I had given up, preparing to die, I was miraculously rescued because of a loving God. I am given this insight not to allow me to know exactly how God will rescue me, but with a firm conviction that I will be rescued during tribulation, just as He had done for me in my life during this experience.

Your answer might be different. Many people are having dreams of a rapture, and to them, this is their answer from God. The point here is that we have been given the scriptures as a guide, but you can also receive a personal revelation from God through your prayers. After doing so, take some time where its quiet to listen to the promptings that God will give to you. Pay attention to your thoughts. You can then pray about the thoughts that you have been given to receive conformation from God that they are indeed true. You will have a warm, special feeling confirming the truth.

3. Universal Judgment is Coming
This passage assures us that a time of global testing is coming, and believers are either spared from it or safeguarded during it.

Supporting Cross-References (KJV)

  • Luke 21:36

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things…”

  • John 17:15

“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.”

  • Isaiah 26:20–21

“Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambersuntil the indignation be overpast.”

We know that the Jewish people will “Flee to the mountains” when the time comes during the Tribulation Period. This is where they will find shelter and protection from the Antichrist. This is what the scriptures teach:

1. Matthew 24:15–16 (KJV)

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:”

2. Mark 13:14 (KJV)

“But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation… then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:”

3. Luke 21:20–21 (KJV)

“And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains…”

Though your study today, you can see that God Has a Plan for all of us. His fight is with evil, not with you and me. He will protect His children during the Tribulation Period. Even though we do not know EXACLY how He will do this, use your faith in acknowledging the fact that He will.

Application for Today

  • Stay faithful—God notices your endurance.
  • Prepare spiritually—a global testing is coming.
  • Take comfort—God promises His keeping hand on His people.

Power Over the Enemy

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
– Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

Even when the dragon (Satan) wages war, believers overcome through Christ’s sacrifice and their steadfast faith.

“…Hurt not the earth… till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”
– Revelation 7:3 (KJV)

This verse speaks of God marking His people for spiritual protection, even as judgments fall on the earth.

And for the few that actually are put to death because of their beliefs, just know that you will never be alone.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…”
– Psalm 23:4 (KJV)

God’s presence gives peace, even when danger or death is close. We need to redefine death in our minds right now. The world will be ending for everyone in about 7 years. All of us will be gone by then. Death is simply the turning of a page. Death for believers is an immediate placement to a world that we have been praying for our entire life. Living with Jesus Christ, in a peaceful, glorious place. Free from sin and trials. United with all of those that we love. Do not fear it, especially with God right next to you. He can remove the pain or scariness of the situation.

“And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.”
– 1 John 2:25 (KJV)

The greatest protection God offers is not from physical death, but from eternal separation—by granting eternal life through Jesus Christ.

In summary: Yes, the KJV affirms that God will protect, strengthen, and ultimately deliver His faithful people through the end times. While many may face suffering or martyrdom, God’s promises stand firm: He will never forsake those who trust in Him. I find this so comforting!
