The Timeline That Proves We Are in The Last Days. You Really Have to See This.
In my discussions with others, I frequently hear, “Yeah, our parents thought they were living in the last days. Nobody knows when it will happen.” Well, their parents didn’t have access to what I’m about to show you.
Let’s use the evidence that is written in the New Testament to establish a timeline. No speculation, just the facts.
1. The “Day-Age” Principle (One Day = 1,000 Years)
2 Peter 3:8 (KJV)
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
This verse is often used to support the idea that the seven days of creation in Genesis symbolically represents 7,000 years of human history.
Let’s look at the pattern that God used for the creation.
Creation Pattern: 6 Days Work, 1 Day Rest
Genesis 2:2 (KJV)
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.”
This is paired with:
Exodus 20:11 (KJV)
“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth… and rested the seventh day…”
The pattern:
- 6 days of work (6,000 years of human labor and sin)
- 1 day of rest (1,000-year Millennial reign of Christ)
This typology sees human history lasting 6,000 years, followed by a Sabbath rest—the Millennium.
3. Revelation’s Millennium
And a further scripture indicating how long the millennium will last.
Revelation 20:4 (KJV)
“…and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
This is understood as the seventh millennium—a time of peace, rest, and the reign of Christ after 6,000 years of fallen human history.
Ok now, using the pattern that has been established, let’s take a look at the timeline of mans existence upon the earth.
4. Genealogies from Adam to Christ
In 1650 AD, Archbishop Ussher calculated the years from Adam to Christ using Genesis 5 and 11. Many Christian scholars have since researched his findings and agree with the numbers that he has concluded.
- 4,000 years from Adam to Jesus
Total Time from Adam to Jesus
- Adam to Abraham: ~2,083 years
- Abraham to Exodus: ~505 years
- Exodus to Solomon’s Temple: 480 years
- Solomon to Jesus: ~1,000 years
➡️ Total: ~4,000 years
(The precise total here is not necessary, as this is used to establish the 4 days, or 4,000 years prior to the birth of Christ. A more detailed information list is available online showing the breakdown of years, if you would like to review this).
So, do we have any information as to when Jesus was born? Since there is no such year as 0 AD, we would assume that it would be 1 AD. But since we are not making assumptions here, lets take a deeper dive to find out the year Jesus was born.
Jesus Was Likely Born Around 4 B.C.
Death of Herod the Great
- Herod the Great, who tried to kill Jesus (Matthew 2:16), died in 4 B.C., according to Josephus, a first-century Jewish historian.
- Since Jesus was born before Herod died, He had to be born before 4 B.C.
- Most scholars place Jesus’ birth between 6 and 4 B.C.
Census of Quirinius
- Luke 2:2 says Jesus was born during a census under Quirinius, governor of Syria.
- There’s historical debate about the timing of this, but it’s often reconciled with events happening before 4 B.C., depending on how Luke meant “first census.”
This date is important in the timeline to give us a clear ending date of the 6000 years.
The years that Jesus was on the earth are not counted per say in this 6000-year timeline. They act as a hinge in this prophetic timeline. His earthly life overlaps the end of the 4000 years and the beginning of the next 2000. It’s like the “pivot point” between the Old and New Covenants.
Think of it this way:
- The first 4000 years lead up to Christ’s arrival (the promised Messiah).
- The Church Age (2000 years) really begins at His resurrection, because that’s when:
- The New Covenant was sealed,
- The Holy Spirit was given (Acts 2),
- The “age of grace” officially began.
Here’s a simple diagram to understand the 6,000 years.
Now, back to the timeline calculation. Another piece of information that is important to us would be to know how old Jesus was when He died and was resurrected. Let’s take a look.
The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible does not explicitly state Jesus’ age when He died. However, we can zone into a number based on a few verses:
Luke 3:23 (KJV)
“And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph…”
This tells us Jesus was about 30 years old when He began His public ministry.
Gospel accounts suggest His ministry lasted about 3 to 3½ years, based on:
- The number of Passovers He attended (especially in John’s Gospel: John 2:13, 6:4, and 11:55)
Jesus was likely 33 to 34 years old when He died — it’s a historically supported estimate based on context. I think we can all agree on this number. That’s certainly what I have been taught from a very early age.
5. From Christ resurrection date to His Second Coming is 2,000 years.
This completes the 6 days, or 6,000-year period as described above.
Now, let’s put all of these numbers together and see when the official 6,000-year period would end. Finding this out will give us the year that we can expect the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Adam to Jesus’ birth 4,000 years ending the year that Christ was born, (between 6 and 4 BC).
Jesus lived 33 or 34 years, and was resurrected, (27 AD to 30 AD).
(Remember, there is no 0 AD year. 1 BC → AD 1 = 1 year)
2,000 years from the resurrection time would be 2027 to 2030. And this right here is the expected year(s) that Jesus will Come again.
So, there is one more telling bit of information that we need to add to this equation. We have been taught that the Tribulation period will last 7 years. (You can reference many of my blog postings to see the scriptural detail of the Tribulation Period being 7 years). This period of time has not started yet.
7 years form 2025 is 2032
You can see that even if the Tribulation period were to start today, we are past due in the timeline (2027 to 2030). That would make the Second Coming of Christ happening in 2032.
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”
— Matthew 24:36, KJV
This timeline serves a very prophetic purpose: Not to pinpoint the date of His coming, but to help us understand the “season” of His coming. And, as you can see, we are very much in the season of the beginning of the 7-year tribulation period.
If you believe in the pre-tribulation Rapture, we could be “Caught up to meet Him in the clouds” in a matter of days or months. If you don’t believe in the rapture, you at least need to start watching for the 7-year peace agreement to be signed with Israel, which will officially start the 7-year Tribulation Period. Once this starts, we will not know the day nor the hour, but by simply adding 7 years to the year this occurs, we will know the YEAR of His return.
So how is our lifetime different from our parents and grandparents thinking that they were living in the end-times? With this timeline….Now You Know.
