“But as the Days of Noah were, so Shall also the Coming of the Son of Man Be.” Why Did God Say This?

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
— Matthew 24:37, KJV

Jesus Christ gave us a powerful warning: the conditions on earth at the time of His return would resemble those in the days of Noah. This statement isn’t just a prophetic insight—it’s a call to prepare, to awaken, and to live with urgency and holiness in a world distracted by evil.

What Were the Days of Noah Like?

The days of Noah were marked by violence, wickedness, and spiritual apathy. The Bible tells us:

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
— Genesis 6:5, KJV

People were consumed with their own desires. Life carried on as usual—eating, drinking, marrying—while judgment loomed over their heads. They mocked Noah, a “preacher of righteousness” (2 Peter 2:5), even as he built the ark over many years. They ignored the warnings. Then the rains came.

“And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Our World Today: Echoes of Noah’s Time

We live in a generation filled with pride, lust, greed, and violence. Evil is not just present—it is celebrated. Truth is called hate. Good is called evil. Much like in Noah’s time, people are going about their lives, unrepentant and unconcerned about the coming judgment.

Do we not see the signs?

• Global unrest and wars (Matthew 24:6)
• Moral decay and lawlessness (2 Timothy 3:1–5)
• Mockery of God and His Word (2 Peter 3:3–4)
• A generation deaf to warnings (Jeremiah 6:10)

Jesus warned us these would come. He pleaded with us to be ready.

So, Why is God Telling Us This? What Should We Be Doing?

1. Enter the Ark—Jesus Christ

Noah’s ark was the only place of safety during the flood. Today, our ark is Jesus Christ. Only through Him is there salvation from the wrath to come.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:12, KJV

If you haven’t placed your faith in Jesus Christ, now is the time. Confess your sins to Him. Believe in Him. Receive the gift of eternal life.

2. Live in Holiness and Watchfulness

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
— Matthew 24:44, KJV

This world will try to lull you to sleep. Stay awake. Live righteously. Don’t be like those swept away in the flood, busy with life but dead in sin.

3. Warn Others

Just as Noah preached while he built the ark, we too must sound the alarm. Time is short. Souls are at stake.

“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet…”
— Isaiah 58:1, KJV

Speak the truth. Be bold. Let your life and words point people to Christ before it’s too late.

Final Words: The Door Will Close

The ark had one door. God shut it. When the time of judgment came, no one could open it.

“And the Lord shut him in.”
— Genesis 7:16, KJV

One day soon, the door of grace will close again. Don’t wait. Don’t gamble with eternity.

Now is the time to repent. Now is the time to believe. Now is the time to prepare.

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:”
— Isaiah 55:6, KJV

Let us live like Noah—righteous, obedient, unwavering in faith—so that when the flood of judgment comes, we will be found safe in Christ, ready for His glorious return.

Noah was NOT perfect, as perfection was not a requirement to save him. Noah TRUSTED God, and looked to Him for guidance. This indeed was the reason that he was saved from the flood. He followed God, and did not listen to mankind regarding his foolishness for his actions. (There is no flood coming. Sounds awfully fimilure… Jesus Christ is not coming. We are not in the end times.)

Most importantly, God has given us these words…“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” What do they say to your spiritual ears? What is He telling you? Knowing what you know now about the flood, and Noah’s experience, what would you have done if you were living in that time?

Pause for a moment to answer that question.

Now, I invite you to be doing exactly as you have indicated in your answer, because that is what God is instructing us to do through this passage of scripture. My prayer is that you will find yourself “Inside of the Ark” before God seals the door, and not be left behind for the destruction that God has planned for the earth.
