OTL: Rashod Bateman is Working Out Where?
[Webmaster note: Commenting has been restored. We apologize for the inconvenience.]
Ravens fans are still buzzing after last weekend’s 2025 NFL Draft, and rightfully so. Baltimore entered the event without any clear major needs, and exiting with a number of players that look primed to contribute. While all 11 are unlikely to make the 53-man roster, here’s a look at the expected depth chart at its current state:
Here’s a post-draft projection of the Ravens’ depth chart.
Good luck to any UDFAs or street free agents trying to make this team. There won’t be many roster spots up for grabs. pic.twitter.com/KNav7sfSsR

As Shaffer calls out, UDFAs will have a hard time cracking the Ravens’ roster given the amount of depth already there. Never say never, though. Undersized LB Chandler Martin, out of Memphis, may be an early favorite:
Yeah I think Chandler Martin could fit in the Ravens defense my god pic.twitter.com/9O7Ocn666n

He’s an off-ball guy, so he would be competing with the EDGE names more, but he’ll be a fun one to watch this offseason.
Sticking with defense, it’s hard not to salivate at the additions of Malaki Starks and Mike Green. On the back end, Starks brings versatility, ball skills, and football IQ – something it seems was missing last year.
These Malaki Starks traits were on the Ravens’ scouting radar: pic.twitter.com/H1Vil52GaV

Even in terms of yards allowed there are positives. As PFF’s Gordon McGuinness calls out, 25% of the yards Starks gave up were on two plays.
Sure, you need context for everything.
The other piece of context I’d add is that about 25% of his yards allowed came on just two plays last year.
I also think the data backs up that Starks is good in coverage, it’s just not being used correctly by all imo.

Think about that and then think about the amount of chunk plays the likes of Marcus Williams, Eddie Jackson, and Brandon Stephens were giving up last year.
Rumors swirled that Starks was Baltimore’s “dream scenario” going into the NFL Draft, and while it could’ve been smoke, I think it might have been true. Starks can do it all, and you can see how excited DC Zach Orr was when he arrived at 1 Winning Drive:
Ravens 1st-round pick Malaki Starks is the ONLY FBS player since 2022 with 190+ tackles, 6+ INTs, and 20+ passes defended.
Versatile. Explosive. A game-changer in the secondary. pic.twitter.com/A1oYUDc3ol

One night later, the Ravens took a calculated risk in drafting Green. Personally, I was shocked to hear his name called by Baltimore, just because of the PR situation that surrounds the selection. That said, if Green moves forward as a stand-up citizen and the Ravens truly did their research, this is a tremendous pick.
Before I knew of the allegations against him last fall, Green was my top target for Baltimore. He’s explosive, sets the edge well, and had production in college. Interestingly, he measures up with #3 Pick Abdul Carter quite well:
A lot closer than you’d think on the surface.
I’m telling you, if Green is a good citizen & focuses on ball going forward, he’ll be the steal of this draft. And maybe all-time, ala Warren Sapp.
We saw what Jalen Carter did for the Eagles. I’m hoping for the same. #Ravens https://t.co/4xG6NLdBPB

Speaking strictly football-wise, Mike Green is probably my favorite pick by the Ravens in terms of top talent meeting biggest need pic.twitter.com/DvrumnpnFb
— Sarah Ellison (@sgellison) April 29, 2025
The Ravens had a statistically strong pass rush last season, but it did feel like sacks came at inconsequential times and it was rare that the unit seemed to take over a game. As Sarah Ellison says, “football-wise,” this was a great pick.
Let’s hope the rest shakes out. If it does, the Ravens got a special duo and will have a special defense:
I still can’t believe we got both Malakai Starks AND Mike Green.
This season is going to be fun.

Going from a major injury to becoming a consistent piece in the offense. Gotta respect Justice Hill. pic.twitter.com/jdGeInCpMW https://t.co/zCyWnI0H0q

I would have to say Justice Hill is more underrated from the perspective of all NFL fans, but if Rashod Bateman continues working out in grocery stores, he may not be underrated at all after next season:
I respect it, Rashod Bateman pic.twitter.com/XCQKlSokvt

What other names would you throw into this debate?
