Chicago White Sox get dealt another tough blow, with two players getting injured

The Chicago White Sox are in complete free fall. Last night, they dropped their seventh straight game and lost their fifth game by one run, losing by a score of 3-2 to the Cleveland Guardians.
During their dreadful seven-game losing streak, the opposition has outscored the White Sox 36-15. The White Sox starters and bullpen have not maintained leads when given them, and the offense hasn’t scored runs to get them support.
If things couldn’t get any worse for the White Sox, adding insult to injury (literally) during the game last night, two White Sox players, Mike Tauchman and Korey Lee, had to leave the game with injuries, which doesn’t help the White Sox as they slide further into the abyss.
The Chicago White Sox have been plagued with injuries
The White Sox have been plagued with injuries since the first pitch was thrown during spring training. The White Sox seemingly had player after player fall victim to an injury, with their pitching staff being hit the hardest, as a handful of pitchers required Tommy John surgery.
Tauchman began the season on the injured list with tightness in his right hamstring and was recently activated after he wrapped up his rehab stint down in Charlotte.
Now, it seems, he’ll likely be placed back on the injured list as these soft tissue injuries are nothing to play with and can linger not just for a season but his career.
Tauchman was trying to score the game-tying run in the top of the ninth as the White Sox had the bases loaded, with Miguel Vargas hitting a seeing-eyed single into left field, and Tauchman would’ve scored if his hamstring didn’t give out, causing him to slow up and ending the game.

In Lee’s case, he was off to a great start to his season as he was hitting .333/.412/.467 with an OPS of .878 in his first nine games of this season.
Lee appeared to have tweaked his ankle during the top of the sixth inning after reaching on a walk as he was retreating to the first base bag during a pickoff play to first.

Lee’s hot start comes on the heels of his spectacular spring, where he also managed to hit over .370 and display some pop by mashing three doubles in his 32 at-bats.
Lee had been splitting the catching duties with Matt Thaiss. Thaiss will figure to slide into the starting catcher role, with Lee likely to head on the injured list, given how badly he hurt his ankle.
Who will take their place?
The White Sox recently resigned Travis Jankowski to a minor-league deal after designating him for assignment when Tauchman was readded to the roster. With Tauchman likely to go back onto the injured list, Jankowski could be the guy who gets the call to fill his spot.
For the catching situation, there’s speculation that the White Sox will call up veteran catcher Omar Narváez, who is playing with their Double-A affiliate the Birmingham Barons.
If the Sox do indeed call up Narváez, he would likely become the backup, and Thaiss would get the bulk of the reps behind the dish.
The injury to Lee, however, should signal that it’s time to call up catcher and the number two prospect in their organization, Kyle Teel, who has been teeing off down in Charlotte.
Whatever the case, this is not how the White Sox wanted to start their year, starting 2-9, having another terrible losing streak, and having players drop like flies with injuries.
If the White Sox are to turn things around, they need to take a hard look at the minor and decide if they want to be a laughing stock again or get out of their way and start playing their top prospects to see what they can bring.
If not now when?
