OTL: Ravens, Derrick Henry Set to Begin Extension Talks

If there’s one thing the Philadelphia Eagles reinforced in their Super Bowl LIX drubbing of the Kansas City Chiefs, it was that elite defensive line play trumps all else. Throughout the season, their vaunted defense was known to be tough, but with all things clicking on Sunday, it made life impossible for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Whether looking to beat Mahomes in a single-elimination matchup, or to just be a Super Bowl-caliber team, regardless of opponent, the Ravens must leave the 2025 draft with at least one addition to the iDL and must end the offseason with at least one upgrade at EDGE.
I thought Brian illustrated this well the other day, highlighting the ripple effect of a strong D-Line:
Why does the Ravens defense not force turnovers in the playoffs? Their pass rush is pedestrian especially against good teams. They don’t make QBs uncomfortable. They don’t force teams to change their identity

So, while all the talk seems to be about Super Bowl odds, skill player positions, shoring up the back end, and more, the top offseason priority – after years of recognizing it as a weakness – must be the trenches. As Garrett Downing notes, the team has a bright future, but we’ve known that for years now:

It’s time to do something about it.
Getting into some of that other chatter, however, the Ravens placed 5th in ESPN’s way-too-early power rankings on Tuesday:

After being tied for the best Super Bowl odds, there’s no doubt Baltimore is considered a contender. The biggest reason for that, without question, is Lamar Jackson, who will aim to follow a league-best campaign (can’t say MVP, unfortunately) with another strong season:

Alongside Jackson is his running mate, future HOF RB Derrick Henry, with whom Baltimore may be opening extension talks:

Henry not only talked about how much he loves Charm City and the Ravens organization, but stressed how badly he wants to win a Super Bowl while on “The Edge” with Micah Parsons:
Derrick Henry opens up about …
* Finishing his career as a Raven
* Baltimore re-upping his money on a potential extension
* Winning a Super Bowl: “I gotta have it. I need it. I’ll be depressed if I don’t get it. Please, Lord, right now.”

He alluded to an extension, as well, but that’s the kind of mindset Baltimore needs around 1 Winning Drive. But as much as we all loved King Henry, you know how much Ravens Flock loves its receivers! Rumors were swirling on that front, as well:
“I could see him in Baltimore.”

For me, the key to this rumor is that Schefter noted he had not talked with Samuel about teams yet, and that all AFC North teams would make sense. AKA, that’s a nothing burger for now.
Meanwhile, it seems that for yet another year we’ll have fans asking for a Hollywood Brown return to Baltimore:

While I wouldn’t completely rule it out, I’d argue that both Brown and Samuel would be redundant for the Ravens, especially if Devontez Walker progresses in year two.
We don’t need another 5’8 WR lmao
(Hollywood) if anything get Cooper Kupp and call it a day

Let me know in the comments – should EDC attack the WR position via free agency or the trade market, or should it be addressed through the draft, if at all?
