2025 Could Be A Huge Year For Goldschmidt

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Let’s face it, trying to predict what’s going to happen in baseball is like trying to guess the weather a month from now—fun, but usually a shot in the dark. However, every now and then, something comes along that makes us lean in a little closer and get genuinely excited. After reading the latest New York Post article on Paul Goldschmidt, you can’t help but feel the anticipation building.

Why, you ask? Well, let’s dive into why Paul Goldschmidt, at 37, might just be gearing up for another season of fireworks, even at his age.

Few people in baseball know Goldschmidt better than Turner Ward. He’s been with Goldy since his early days in the minors, coaching him through ups and downs as a hitting coach in the majors. Despite not being retained by the Cardinals after the last season, Ward remains one of Goldschmidt’s biggest believers.

Ward shared some intriguing insights: “Over the last six weeks of the season, Paul simplified his approach. He went back to the basics, hitting off a tee and stripping down his swing to its essentials. His swing got out of sequence during the season, and he tried to do too much. But when he simplified things, the results spoke for themselves.”

Ward is convinced that Goldschmidt is on the brink of a return to his fearsome form. “That ballpark isn’t ideal for a guy who hits to all fields like Goldschmidt,” Ward added, referring to St. Louis. “But he’s still got it, no doubt.”

Goldschmidt’s stats show the struggle and the potential for a bounce-back. Last season, his OPS at home was .654 compared to .774 on the road. For someone with a career .289 average, 362 homers, and 1,187 RBIs, those numbers suggest there’s room for improvement. And considering his monster 2022 season—where he hit .317 with 35 homers and 115 RBIs—it’s clear the potential for another stellar year is very real.

Goldschmidt isn’t resting on his laurels. In January 2023, he spent a day with Aaron Judge in Tampa, fine-tuning his hitting. “I’ve always sought out the best hitters to learn from them,” Goldschmidt said. “Judge is one of the best, maybe the best, and learning from him has been invaluable.”

This dedication to improvement and learning from top talents like Judge is a testament to Goldschmidt’s relentless drive. And that drive is what makes us so excited for what’s to come.

So, while we can’t predict the future, one thing’s for sure: after hearing Ward’s confidence and seeing Goldschmidt’s commitment, we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next. Baseball is unpredictable, but that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?

I’m excited.
