Norwich Airport DCNN 3018 – Mathematical modelling madness – my fact check.

Just when you thought things could not get worse……….
There have been weather stations in Norwich since 1873. At one time the Met Office housed a regional centre known as the “Norwich Weather Centre” from which television forecasts were broadcast. Norwich is also home to the University of East Anglia and the UK’s Climate Research Unit (CRU). Norwich ranks alongside Exeter, Aberdeen (at Dyce Airport) Bracknell and Reading University as key locations for the Met Office. But, of course, everything I post below is “fake news” because there isn’t a Met Office weather station in Norwich at all……………or is there?
Here is a section from the alphabetical listing of all Met Office synoptic and climate weather stations. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/uk-synoptic-and-climate-stations
There is no mention of Norwich whatsoever, from which it would be normal to assume that there isn’t one there. The CEDA entry for Norwich airport indicates it is “closed”. However, normal reasoning would assume there should be one both from the area’s history and notable meteorological associations. Not only that, there is an international airport and every one of those requires accurate and immediate area weather readings. Obviously there is one there, just on the northern outskirts 3.5 miles from the city centre, and below is its current real time data. Note this site is annotated as a Synoptic station EGSH 03942 indicating Norwich Airport
Why is the Met Office so coy about admitting to this weather station? The aerial image from google maps in the headline indicates it is probably better sited than most aviation sites for climate reporting purposes. It is even just visible in Streetview with the wind tower as the site marker – it very definitely exists.
Even more proof of its existence, if any were needed, is that current as well as long term data is downloadable online and MONTHLY CLIMATE AVERAGES ARE AVAILABLE.
https://en.tutiempo.net/climate/ws-34920.html
Seeing these climate averages I immediately tried to compare them with those that the Met Office supplies. Their site formerly known as “Climate Averages” stations has since been renamed and amended to https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/location-specific-long-term-averages and this is what it now looks like for Norwich………NO I HAVE NOT MADE THIS UP.
The Met Office does NOT offer climate averages for Norwich where they have had weather stations continuously for other 150 years. In lieu they off “numbers” for stations that DO NOT EXIST.
Coltishall 9 miles distant closed in 2006 i.e. 19 years ago. It only ever existed for 47 years.
Morley St. Botolph 12 miles distant closed in 2005 i.e. 20 years ago and existed for 37 years.
Hemsby 17 miles distant closed in 2001 i.e. 24 years ago and existed for 53 years
Scole 19 miles distant closed in 1980 i.e. 45 years ago and existed for just 9 years.
Lowestoft 21 miles distant closed in 2010 i.e. 15 years ago but with continuing “estimated” Zombie numbers to falsely create an impression of being “open”. It existed at last known site for just 7 years but with its last data “bonded” onto another closed site over 1,500 metres away.
The entire “cell” area of “climate averages” comprises entirely of long time closed stations using “computer modelled” data from allegedly comparative sites that the Met Office cannot/will not supply the identities of for people to scrutinise. Clearly this is “Peer Reviewed” fake data.
If this completely ignoring Norwich’s live and long term data seems bizarre beyond any rational thought to you (it certainly does to me) then, even worse (if that is actually possible) citing other short term and long closed stations up to 21 miles away is borderline insanity. Consider this – there are other operational sites nearer to Norwich that the Met Office has also ignored. Is a long closed coastal weather station at Lowestoft somehow preferable to the operational coastal unit at Cromer just 18 miles distant with 141 years of data? And if you try to check the location specific data for Cromer, again no figures exist with 3 of the 5 quoted stations the same as for Norwich, Hunstanton no 2 closed 16 years ago and with only 22 years of data. Only Weybourne is an operational site.
Are the nearer operational units at Tibbenham, Lingwood and Mannington Hall all to be simply ignored in favour of the likes of just 9 years of ancient data from Scole?
The facts are quite simple, the vast majority of ALL the Met Office’s supposed Climate Average data is covertly concocted by a system only accepted by a tiny cabal of anonymous peer reviewers operating a witches brew of contrived data that is a closely guarded secret. When challenged under FOI request the Met Office could not offer adequate transparency by claiming they no longer held the data from which they “contrived” their figures. What possible credence can be given to data subsequently analysed by the nearby CRU?
I invite anyone reading this to prove my above appraisal is in any way incorrect.
As a codicil here is Ian McCaskill giving a weather forecast from the Norwich Weather Centre for the 17th August 1996. Note the screen colours and the 30°C annotation in the centre. Ian signs off saying “On Monday even hotter. Enjoy” Contrast that with today’s shock, horror “be very afraid” warnings!
