HydroFleet To Build Hydrogen Production and Fueling Station in Georgia
HydroFleet, a national hydrogen equipment and fuel supplier, has announced a significant investment of nearly $33 million to establish a hydrogen production and fueling station in Pooler, Georgia. The facility is designed to service environmentally friendly heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell trucks, marking a substantial advancement in sustainable transportation within the region.
To date, the company has delivered more than 450,000 kilograms of ready-to-use gaseous hydrogen fuel to various fleet operators.
Scott Moe, CEO of HydroFleet says Pooler has strategic advantages, stating, “Pooler is an ideal location for HydroFleet’s facility due to the proximity to major interstates, the Port of Savannah, and prospective fleet customers.” He acknowledged the challenges customers face in sourcing a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem at competitive prices.
Local officials have expressed strong support for HydroFleet’s initiatives. Pooler Mayor Karen Williams remarked, “HydroFleet’s investment in Pooler marks an exciting advancement in sustainable innovation and economic growth. This facility will enhance our local economy while establishing Pooler as a leader in clean energy solutions.” She also noted the environmental benefits, including reduced emissions and pollution, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future for the community.
The new facility will initially refuel seven to fourteen trucks daily, with plans to expand capacity to up to 50 trucks per day. This development aligns with broader trends in the U.S., where over 18,000 hydrogen-powered passenger vehicles and more than 570 hydrogen-powered buses and heavy trucks are currently in operation. Additionally, companies like Amazon, Whirlpool, and Walmart utilize hydrogen-powered forklift fleets, reflecting the growing option of hydrogen fuel solutions across various industries.
HydroFleet’s investment not only bolsters the local economy but also positions Pooler as a pivotal player in the nation’s transition to clean energy, underscoring the city’s commitment to sustainable development and innovative solutions in transportation.
