Top Scientists Freak Out Over New Documentary Questioning Copernican Principle- Which They Appeared In!
In a previous article, I reported on a new documentary, The Principle, which discusses recent evidence questioning the Copernican Principle. Many eminent scientists were interviewed for the film, including Lawrence Krauss, Michio Kaku, Max Tegmark, Julian Barbour, and George Ellis. The film was narrated by Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway of Star Trek). All of them signed releases, were paid, and agreed to be interviewed for a film that would address controversial as well as main stream cosmological ideas. All of them interviewed before the Planck satellite returned its results in 2013 (except Max Tegmark who came for a second interview after the results were released).
When the trailer was put up in December 2013, things were quiet for a while, but suddenly in April 2014, there was a media fury (Google search “Krauss Mulgrew geocentrism”). Media outlets from Rawstory to Time to Der Spiegel were onto the story. It started when Lawrence Krauss denounced the movie on Slate, followed immediately by Kate Mulgrew claiming she was not a geocentrist, and apologizing to her Star Trek fans for her involvement! Of course none of the denouncers had even seen the movie, so it is not clear what they were denouncing. It turns out they were denouncing a movie that a minor Catholic blogger stated was trying to prove geocentrism. In fact geocentrists were interviewed in the documentary, which would make sense in a piece about the Copernican Principle, especially given the obsevations that are discussed (correlations of the universe at large with the earth). Nevertheless, this led to the movie being known as the “most reveiwed film ever by reviewers who had never seen it”. The media blitz proclaimed, without consulting obvious sources (such as the producers), that the scientists and Kate Mulgrew were tricked into interviewing for the movie.
There are two interesting facets to this event. Why would the scientists interview, cash their checks, and go on with their lives for three years, then suddenly make this an issue? The producers believe that the media storm was ignited by two causes. The first was the intervention of the Catholic blogger, which embarrassed Lawrence Krauss. Second, and more interestingly, is the fact that most of the interviews were done before the release of the Planck satellite results in March 2013. As explained in the previous article, and explained in more depth in these linked articles, the Planck results packed a significant and unexpected blow to the Copernican Principle, practically a dogma to mainstream cosmology. If we can look for example 13.79 light years out then by default we are in fact in the center of a sphere. It can be no other way.
Do the directional math to determine the “point of origin” of the big bang according to the Hubble red shift.

I’m not a geocentrist myself (for example, if the sun revolves around the earth, then why does it appear fixed at the north pole?), but I’ve watched a couple Dr. Sungenis’s videos and I believe there’s enough legitimate science there to justify re-opening the debate.
If the earth really is the center of the solar system, then it pretty well lays waste to the idea that the universe is the result of undesigned, random, “Big Bang” type events. So, it’s an important discussion.
If Dr. Sungenis’s theories are scientifically unsound, then let him publish them in a scientific journal, let scientists rip them apart and move on. Easy-peasy.

@Doccus, I think you’re right, but from the little I know, the root of the argument seems to be whether the earth revolves around the sun or vice-versa. If the sun revolves around the earth, then it’s not a big leap to say that the earth is the center of the universe.
Here’s my question to the heliocentrists: Why does the jet stream blow from west to east? If the earth is rotating from west to east, shouldn’t the jet stream blow from east to west as a counterbalance?
I know folks consider the issue settled many hundreds of years ago, but revelations of modern science indicate (to me, at least) that it might be prudent to re-open the discussion.

The jet streams get their speed from the Coriolis Effect.

When air moving toward the poles is stopped, because it encounters a mass of colder, polar air, what would have been a DRIFT to the east turns into nothing but eastward flow.

If the water at the equator is moving at 1000 mph then when it goes north say with the gulf stream how could it possibly slow down by 500 mph in say about 1month. I mean water is much heavier than air with so much more momentum – so surely the northward and southward currents would create a maelstrom in the seas when so much change of speed happens between north and south ? Eg going from say 1000 mph to 500 mph. The same problem must happen with the air except with much less momentum .

The equatorial region IS moving at over 1,000 mph. We know this by knowing the circumference of the Earth, and by knowing from astronomy how long it takes to make one complete 360 degree rotation.
And if the AIR wasn’t moving at that speed, you’d feel a supersonic wind in your face, when you stood at the equator.

The air and water DO lose that speed, when they move toward the poles.
The energy – as I said — is enough to power the “jet streams.”
And to (help) drive other winds, and currents.
To use your example: the distance from the pole to the equator is about 6,000 miles.
The 500 mph spin would be at half that distance.
To stay synchronized with the Earth’s spin, you would need to lose 500 mph over a distance of 3,000 miles. That is 1 mph over a distance of 6 miles.
The Coriolis effect/force could also arise due to a rotating universe against a stationary earth, at least according to Einstein and Mach. Also in aether theories, there would be a counter interaction between the aether and the atmosphere.

For my religious questions, the scriptures are adequate authority.
For my scientific needs, I prefer to go to experts in the field. I’ll trust the scientists on science, because they obviously know enough to put satellites and space probes where they want them.
Since cosmology is 90% philosophy, who will you trust for the philosophy? As to putting probes into space, I would personally go with engineers. They used simplified Newtonian mathematics, but it works on the planetary scale quite well. No need for cosmology there. If you put a cosmologist in charge of launching satellites, you will probably end up with a black hole- in the ground!

Since most sane people say they believe the Bible, let see if you do.
We can start in the beginning in Gen.1:14-19.
Since we can read there that the SUN moon and the stars were not created until the 4th day, may I ask what this old earth was revolving around the first 3 days?
Now in the book of Joshua chapter 10 verse 12 we read that this servant of Moses looking up at the SUN and MOON and said SUN STAND STILL and the very next verse says So THE SUN STOOD STILL.
Now what part of this plan simple statement is it that you don’t understand or what part of this statement is it you don’t believe?
Remember the Messiah called you a fool if you don’t believe these things.
Who had you rather believe that old school teacher that was taught lies then past them on to you or the Scriptures? That choice is yours to make and no one can make it for.
As for me and my house we will believe the Scriptures.

If the water at the equator is moving at 1000 mph then when it goes north say with the gulf stream how could it possibly slow down by 500 mph in say about 1month. I mean water is much heavier than air with so much more momentum – so surely the northward and southward currents would create a maelstrom in the seas when so much change of speed happens between north and south ? Eg going from say 1000 mph to 500 mph. The same problem must happen with the air except with much less momentum .

charles allan the Coriolis effect is well understood. I didn’t make it up.
The equatorial region IS moving at over 1,000 mph. We know this by knowing the circumference of the Earth, and by knowing from astronomy how long it takes to make one complete 360 degree rotation.
And if the AIR wasn’t moving at that speed, you’d feel a supersonic wind in your face, when you stood at the equator.

The air and water DO lose that speed, when they move toward the poles.
The energy – as I said — is enough to power the “jet streams.”
And to (help) drive other winds, and currents.
To use your example: the distance from the pole to the equator is about 6,000 miles.
The 500 mph spin would be at half that distance.
To stay synchronized with the Earth’s spin, you would need to lose 500 mph over a distance of 3,000 miles. That is 1 mph over a distance of 6 miles.

The Coriolis effect/force could also arise due to a rotating universe against a stationary earth, at least according to Einstein and Mach. Also in aether theories, there would be a counter interaction between the aether and the atmosphere.

See Chuck Misslers lectures on “The Science of God”, and “Bible Codes.” Its not the Catholic Church thats the hero here…its the Bible…or more correctly…the Torah, Tenach, and Greek New Testament which were, I recall, suppressed by the Catholic authorities. It was Jewish scholars who made discoveries of the multi-verse…and other non-Catholic scholars who were led by the Holy Spirit to discover the hidden messages in the Scriptures and verify beyond any doubt the Scriptures are the breathed word of our Heavenly Father.

For my religious questions, the scriptures are adequate authority.
For my scientific needs, I prefer to go to experts in the field. I’ll trust the scientists on science, because they obviously know enough to put satellites and space probes where they want them.

Since cosmology is 90% philosophy, who will you trust for the philosophy? As to putting probes into space, I would personally go with engineers. They used simplified Newtonian mathematics, but it works on the planetary scale quite well. No need for cosmology there. If you put a cosmologist in charge of launching satellites, you will probably end up with a black hole- in the ground!

Here is the bottom line.
Any one who reads the Scriptures AT ALL should know of the account found in the 6th book of the Bible.
Now there are two side to this whole story the right side and the wrong side. Needless to say most of those people that are educated by this evil beastly educational systems are brain dead as to what really maters in this life, or the one to come seeing how most of them don’t believe there is more to life than this state of being. It’s O.K.. they will understand sooner or later, hang in there folks it only get better. In the end TRUTH wins I have read the last chapter.
