“From a tactical perspective, their approach was correct — they understood their capabilities and advantages and used them effectively,” Maj. Ivan Sekach, a press officer for the Ukrainian military’s 110th Brigade, which has been defending the area, said in an interview. “It would not be accurate to claim that the Russians don’t know how to fight.”

Major Sekach said that Ukraine’s forces had managed to withdraw under the cover of fog, avoiding major casualties or surrender. But Mr. Paroinen cast doubt on that claim, noting that the troops would have had to cross a river without bridges and walk through at least a mile of open flood plains to escape.

Overnight strikes on enemy facilities

On the night of January 29-30, 2025, Russian troops carried out point-blank strikes on Ukrainian military and logistical infrastructure facilities, including a UAV control radar in Chernihiv, an oil storage and ship repair base in Izmail, and a military logistics depot in Poltava region.

for January 30, 2025

Over the course of the day, Russian forces struck infrastructure facilities in the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime, including the port of Izmail in Odesa Region, as well as airfields in Kharkiv, Sumy and Zaporizhia Regions.

The enemy carried out another raid on Russian regions: in Crimea and Bryansk Region, five drones and two missiles were destroyed.

In the Siversk direction, Russian troops entered the territory of Verkhnekamenske, but the outcome of the assault is still unclear.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian Armed Forces units are attacking in the area of Uspenovka and managed to make significant advances near Novoandreevka.

▪️ Last night, several UAVs were shot down over Crimea. The head of Zaporizhia Region reported that he attacked Berdyansk with guided UAVs.
