Large Tubular White Beam Frightens Friends In Indiana

12-5-80 LAPORTE INDIANA
Back in early Winter ,1980, My friend Ed and I met up after work on our second shifts and decided to go look for any marijuana plants that may exist out in a field he knew of. (The area grew hemp for rope use during WW2.) We were sober. We picked up a friend, Dave , and went to a plowed potato field in the country around my home town of LaPorte, Indiana. It was about 1:00 am by the time we arrived. It was early December and there was a light crust of the first snow frozen on the ground. We both took flashlights while Dave stayed with my car that as parked at the field edge. We stumbled across the frozen, plowed field until Ed had us stop near center and check a weedy area on a small rise in the ground with our flashlights on. Not finding anything after a few minutes but regular weeds, we decided to call it a night since there was a slight cold breeze blowing and we were only wearing jean jackets. We turned our lights off to go back to the car since there was a farmhouse at the next field area. We carefully trotted over the crusty snow and broken soil until we suddenly ran into something at waist high! We both switched on our flashlights and looking down, We both were amazed to see two small deer with big brown eyes and long ears staring up at us. We chuckled at the weird happening when both deer suddenly looked away from us and looked back at where we had been searching the weeds. Ed and I also looked back and were amazed to see a very bright white tubular light beam glowing down onto the weedy area we had been at. It was about 150 feet or less from where we stood. It was the brightest beam we had ever seen. It was also odd since it did not splay out at ground level but kept a tight tubular width the whole length of it. It was rigid and did not move like it would from a craft above and all was silent. It looked to be about 1 to 2 feet across, and we could not see through it. We talked to each other on what we were seeing and when we looked skyward, it began up there about 75 feet in the air with no visible craft and no sound. There was no moon out that night or it was cloudy. We then heard the little hoofs of the deer run off and we decided to do the same and hurried back to my car with flashlights off. We got in and woke up Dave who had fallen asleep and he didn’t see anything. A few times since that Winter night in 1980, Ed and I have spoken about the weird light beam as excitedly as the night we saw it. I don’t have Ed’s address or phone number all these years later but know he and his sister, Debbie , still live in LaPorte. This all happened and has made me a staunch believer in visitations by others to our planet.
