WASHINGTON (TNND) — Tech giant IBM on Monday announced it would invest $150 billion in American manufacturing over the next five years amid President Donald Trump’s tariff blitz.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized domestic manufacturing as the key to American trade dominance. His flurry of global trade tariffs is in part intended to incentivize manufacturers to keep business within the country.

IBM wrote its investment will include $30 billion in research and development “to advance and continue IBM’s American manufacturing of mainframe and quantum computers.”
