Witkoff: US ‘open to compromise’ ahead of Iran talks

United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff said Washington is “open to compromise” ahead of talks with Tehran about the Iranian nuclear program.
Witkoff told the Wall Street Journal that the main demand on Iran will be to end its nuclear program, while admitting the necessity of finding “other ways to find compromise between the two countries.” The “weaponization” of Iran’s nuclear capability will remain a red line for Washington, Witkoff stressed. In case the government in Tehran refuses to discontinue the nuclear program, US President Donald Trump will decide what Washington’s next step will be, the envoy explained.
