Undeclared wheat prompts recall of Chicken Pesto Parm Sausage in Canada
Legends Haul is recalling its Chicken Pesto Parm Sausage because of undeclared wheat, posing a risk to individuals with wheat allergies, gluten sensitivities or celiac disease.
This recall was initiated following the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results, and the agency is now conducting a food safety investigation that could result in additional recalls.
Wheat allergies can trigger reactions ranging from mild symptoms like rashes or stomach discomfort to severe anaphylaxis, which may include difficulty breathing or a drop in blood pressure. For those with celiac disease or gluten-related disorders, consuming gluten can damage the small intestine, leading to serious long-term health issues. Accurate labeling remains a critical safeguard, as no cure exists for these conditions.
According to the CFIA, the affected product was distributed in British Columbia, Canada at retail locations.
