A horrific and senseless crime has sent shockwaves through the Zimbabwean community in South Africa, leaving many demanding justice and an end to the scourge of xenophobia and gender-based violence.
A 36-year-old Zimbabwean woman, carrying a baby, was brutally axed to death by a South African man in Alberton, South Africa. The motive behind this heinous crime? The woman was allegedly demanding payment for a plastic sheet used to cover a shack or “mukhuku.”
Thulani Mkhwananzi, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Community in South Africa, expressed deep outrage and frustration over the lack of immediate action from law enforcement. “The South African Police must arrest the culprit, we demand justice. This gender-based violence is wicked, shocking, and disgusting. Such beastly savages must spend their lives in jail or be hanged.”
This brutal murder is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by immigrants in South Africa, who often experience xenophobia, hatred, harassment, and persecution. The perpetrators of such heinous crimes seem to forget that they, too, will face mortality one day.
The Zimbabwean community is urging young Zimbabweans to reconsider traveling to South Africa, citing the dangers and risks associated with xenophobia and violence.
In response to this tragedy, Makumbirofa Farms is calling for support to create jobs and opportunities for youths in Zimbabwe. An initial investment of $10 000 can help kickstart this initiative.
