Sky Daddy by Kate Folk (Audiobook)
I have no idea how to describe Sky Daddy other than it was one of the strangest books I’ve listened to but in a good way and it made me laugh while being weird and awkward at times.
Linda is trying to live a normal life – kind of. She lives in a windowless garage and trudges to work each day. Her life is far from ordinary though because Linda is in love with planes and I mean in every way possible, including sexually. She is so obsessed her fantasies rule a good part of her life. Her ultimate dream is dying in a plane crash and being with her love forever.
Strange – I agree. When I saw the description of this book I thought I can’t see myself liking this. Then because I do like something out of the ordinary I had to give it a try and I was hooked. I felt awkward at times listening in on Linda’s obsession. She knows she’s different and that most people can’t or won’t be able to understand her. She’s looking to be accepted as we all are.
I listened to the audio which was read by Kristen Sieh and she was the perfect voice for Linda and she’s so easy to listen to. This novel made me wonder if we ever really know the people around us. Who knows what hidden obsessions people have.
I enjoyed this novel so much more than I thought I would and I’m so glad I gave it a chance. Be warned there are sexually explicit themes throughout for those who are uncomfortable with that. This listener liked it!
