Sidley Austin And 9/11 Obama Connections
Sidley Austin is a very large law firm, that Michelle Obama once worked for, and apparently that’s where she met Barack, in Chicago.
In the summer of 1989, Michelle Robinson told her mother she was going to concentrate on her law career and not worry about dating. She was 25 and had just finished her first year as an associate at Sidley & Austin, a corporate law firm in her home town of Chicago. Not long after, the firm assigned her to mentor a summer associate named Barack Obama

Hmm, she was assigned to Barack…
On 9/11, Sidley Austin occupied floors 54-59 of the North tower, and took a direct hit.
When two planes slammed into the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings on September 11, 2001 (9/11), the law firm Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP (SAB&W) was hit directly. The firm occupied floors 54 through 59 in the North Tower, the building hit first.

But even after taking a direct hit, only one person died from the law firm, and that was the receptionist, who’s body was found outside of the building…
The firm suffered only one fatality, receptionist Rosemary Smith, whose body was found outside. An older woman who had trouble walking, Smith was probably receiving treatment when she was hit by falling debris, Feldkamp said.
This begs the question, was the lawfirm empty on 9/11?
In New York on 9/11, approximately 600 people were assigned to the WTC offices and 400 to the office on Third Avenue in midtown Manhattan.
How did these 600 lawyers know not to show up to work on 9/11? They obviously were not in their offices, or they would all be dead, or most of them anyways.
The second-biggest wave of applause went to Charles W. Douglas, chairman of the firm’s management committee. He told the crowd that Sidley Austin’s insurance policies included tens of millions of dollars worth of coverage for damage to people and facilities, and $1.5 million for the art collection alone. On top of that, the insurance included a provision to recover the losses from interruption of business, even in case of terrorist attack. The policies, he told them, had been renewed on Sept. 1.
Hmm, wonder if the art was for the Israeli art students…
In January 2001, the security branch of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency began to receive a number of peculiar reports from DEA field offices across the country. According to the reports, young Israelis claiming to be art students and offering artwork for sale had been attempting to penetrate DEA offices for over a year. The Israelis had also attempted to penetrate the offices of other law enforcement and Department of Defense agencies. Strangest of all, the “students” had visited the homes of numerous DEA officers and other senior federal officials.

They are all about “diversity” though.
Sidley received a perfect 100 score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), once again designating the firm as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
The annual CEI evaluates LGBTQ-inclusive policies, including workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement. Sidley has earned a perfect score on the CEI for the 11th consecutive year, highlighting the firm’s strong and ongoing commitment to its LGBTQ lawyers and to the wider LGBTQ community.
